Fun day- bugs and ceramics...(Happy Birthday Bubbi!)

First of all, I want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BUBBI!
I had a really fun day about two weeks ago with my sister and nieces. I traveled to Fort Worth and we got to eat at Pei Wei... sounds like this shouldn't be any big deal but it is! When you go through your days revolving the food door of one Italian and one Mexican restaurant, (there are several Mexican food choices but only one favorite), anything outside the box is a real treat! For once, Ken was food-jealous of me that I got to eat something different. I get food-jealous of him pretty often since he travels for the company regularly. He gets steaks, seafoods and other unique foods I crave on a daily basis. Being that the good cooking gene skipped right over me we eat out a lot... accepting the lack of choices and hoping the cooking might one day "click" with me. If you have any favorite "easy" recipes please send them. By "easy" I mean, please have only ingredients that are pronounceable and would likely be available at a fine Wal-Mart or Brookshires. Those are the only grocery stores available in a 30-45 minute radius. (Central Market would be fantastic but definitely not in the cards) No foo-foo ingredients until I get some serious experience under my belt.
Any who, after the yummy gorging lunch we headed to Van Grow, a children's art studio, to paint ceramics with the girls. They each picked to paint the same unicorn. The minds of a 4 and 7 year old are very intricate yet very contrasting. Ainsley's unicorn was very realistically painted and Marin's was a horse of many different colors. I haven't seen them since being fired in the kiln but hope to soon.
After painting we headed over to the Omni to see a neat show about Bugs. I actually got to use a piece of information from the show this past Sunday. Kim and Danny saw a locust coming out of it's shell and asked us to come over there. Kim thought it was a baby but I was able to inform her that they have their skeleton on the outside of their body and as they grow they have to shed that old skeleton ... I learned that from the show! Note: I probably should have known that from 5th grade science but didn't. Thanks to the Discovery team for re-teaching me! It was a great show but it had a sad part in there where a butterfly you watch all the way from an egg to a flourishing butterfly gets eaten at the very end, (pretty detrimental to watch actually), and you just see her wings floating down a stream. Who would do that to kids?! They built us a relationship with this sweet caterpillar/butterfly and then she gets chomped at the end! I'm glad Ainsley and Marin are at least old enough to understand the ethics of nature. I sure wanted to cry but resisted, as did they. :)
After the show we walked around the cattle barns and looked at all the beautiful horses they had in there. Later that night just my sis and I went to get some sushi, one of my all-time favs, and got to catch up for about two hours. It was really great. I miss her very much when we go lengths of time without seeing each other. Same with my mom... but when we finally get together it is always times to remember.
After dinner we went back to their house and I played a game with them for about an hour. No, not a video game or anything of the sort. We played the run- away- from -the -monster -before- she -gets -you -and- the -bed -is -base game. Funny thing is, I wasn't the monster. Ainsley was. If she would get even close to us Marin would just squeal and squeal and even my heart would race because I have a severe phobia with being chased. I hate it!! Even if it IS by a seven year old!! :)

I hope every one had a great weekend. We got a new closing date on the land- it is set for the end of next week. All the owners' paperwork have been turned in and the judge has stamped it. Now we just wait on the ten day grace period required by law prior for closing. YAY!! Almost time!

Ainsley... she thought that was funny. It's the rear. :)

...and again with the humor... stinky paper-mache dragon hiney.

They wanted to get a shot with them "surfing"... and I too thought it was waves... but now- just now, I realize that is a sky!!

Us girls. Marin was being a poot at that exact moment and not smiling for the camera.

Ainsley had no problem posing! She was really funny that day!

Hooray for smiles!

Enjoy the sunshine!
